Teachers Panel on Science and Mathematics Teaching at Intel International Education Conference
Teachers Panel on Science and Mathematics Teaching at Intel International Education Conference
In June 2014, Intel will hold its International Education Conference for the sciences and technology. This conference takes place every year in a different European country, and this year will take place for the first time in Israel, marking Intel-Israel’s 40th anniversary. 200 guests have been invited from across the world, including Ministers of Education, journalists, science museums directors, school principals and teachers. The conference aims to turn the public eye towards the troubling shortage of science graduates in academia and industry.
The conference’s program includes a special session on teachers and teaching, ranging from how to attract talented people into teaching, improving the quality of teacher training, adapting teaching to 21st century skills, and reducing achievement gaps in disadvantaged areas. In discussion with Intel-Israel it was suggested that the panel will include master teachers, pedagogic experts, and Ministry of Education officials from Israel and abroad.
Intel-Israel operates a philanthropic arm which is a leading partner, together with the Trump Foundation, Rashi Foundation, San Disk and the Ministry of Education, in a Collective Impact Initiative. This ambitious initiative, which is convened by Sheatufim, aims over the next ten years to jointly multiply the number of STEM studies graduates in Israeli high schools. The Collective Impact Initiative seeks to take part in the Intel conference by sponsoring the Teachers panel.
