A Conference About Quality Teaching
a Conference on Quality Teaching and Three Additional Books
a Conference on Quality Teaching and Three Additional Books
Since 2016, the foundation has partnered with Professor Yoram Harpaz and the Branco Weiss Institute to translate to Hebrew and publish six books on quality teaching. These books represent some of the most important work published around the world on the topic of teaching, offering a combination of academic research and practical knowledge. The goal of this project is to provide Israeli educators and policy makers with access to the latest developments in the field, enabling them to integrate academic research with practice in a collaborative effort to improve the performance of our education system.
Of the three books that have already been published, by Willingham, Hattie, and Fullan & Hargreaves, an online version of two books is open free of charge and a total of 5,000 hard copies of all three books were printed and sold for an average cost price of 83 NIS. Two additional books are in the process of translation and a sixth book is currently being edited. The sixth book is unique, in that it is not a translation of work from abroad. Rather, it is a compilation of short articles by leading Israeli thinkers, educators, economists and students on their visions for what Israel must do to become one of the top 15 countries in the world in education.
Now, as the foundation and its partners are entering a new field of work in middle schools, we approached Branco Weiss and asked them to expand the series of publications to include three additional books, which are relevant to middle schools. These books are: “Empowered Educators: How High-Performing Systems Shape Teaching Quality Around the World” by Linda Darling-Hammond, “Reduce Change to Increase Improvement” by Vivian Robinson and “Liberating Learning: Educational Change as Social Movement” by Santiago Rincón-Gallardo.
The three books will be printed in collaboration with a renowned publishing house. In addition, Branco Weiss will organize a conference for 150 participants to present the series and its nine books to the relevant audience.
