In order to address the growing shortage of Mathematics and Physics teachers, TFI is interested in creating a Mathematics and Sciences teacher training track. Focus Groups and a survey among students and graduates of these subjects comprise an initial planning stage.
Teach First Israel (TFI) recruits high achieving university graduates to teach for at least two years in challenging schools, and ultimately become leaders working to improve access to quality education. It is one of a number of such programs operating around the world, based on the highly successful model, Teach for America.In order to address the growing shortage of Mathematics and Physics teachers, which particularly affects schools on the social and geographical periphery of Israel, TFI is interested in creating a teacher training track specifically aimed at Mathematics and Physics graduates. As an initial planning stage, TFI wishes to better understand the motivations of students and graduates of Mathematics and Physics entering the teaching profession via participation in TFI. They have implemented a survey and a number of focus groups and are due to publish their findings in the near future.
