Presentation of the unique success story of the five-unit endeavor
In a recent press conference, the Minister of Education publically announced that Israel has succeeded to meet its goal of doubling the number of high school graduates who majored the five-unit track in mathematics. “We saved the Startup Nation”, he declared with pride, followed by an elaborated report on performance and next steps by the General Director of the Ministry, as well as by high tech leaders, expert teachers, education organizations and the foundation.
Our main effort now is that this achievement would serve as a driver for investment in professional education infrastructure, in order to sustain the effort over the long term. However, it also caught the attention of decision makers, researchers and organizations in various fields, such as health, employment, welfare and the environment. They perceive the five-unit endeavor as a unique success story; they are eager to learn about it and wish to use some of the relevant lessons in their own areas of work.
As part of this emerging interest, the Television News Company (TNC) approached us with an offer to sponsor at panel at their upcoming conference. TNC is Israel’s most viewed news broadcast, with more than 30% share for their eight o’clock news show. TNC is organizing for the first time a one-day conference, under the title “Influencers 2018”. The conference will be held in Jerusalem on September 3rd, 2018, with the participation of Israel’s President, Ministers, high tech leaders and entrepreneurs.
We were asked to present the five-unit story in a panel on “National Success Stories” alongside one of the developers of “Iron Dome” and head of R&D at CheckPoint Software Technologies. In addition, a special panel on education will be convened as part of the conference, with the participation of a Trump Master Teacher Award winner. The conference will receive extensive media coverage on television and in social media.
