The Federation of Local Authorities in Israel, which is a nonprofit umbrella organization of the municipalities in Israel, is proposing to create an online mathematics summer school. The program will be offered in two cohorts, each over five days, three hours a day, for 2,000 students across the country. The educational content will be developed by the Technion’s experts who are collaborating with the foundation in developing advanced mathematics that uses real examples from high tech. The program will also include exposure to high tech companies and leading figures from the high tech industry.
Each 30-40 students will be assigned in a group with a guide, an engineering student from the Technion. They may register individually, or as a whole class. The program will be marketed in and by the municipalities, as a platform to help students to close the gaps towards the five-unit track and to engage in real life mathematics in collaboration with the Technion and high tech companies.
