University of Haifa will convene a conference for 120 teacher leaders on teaching high-level mathematical modeling and reasoning
The foundation’s middle school portfolio is comprised of an arsenal of development, training and implementation programs. All of the programs are tasked with the mission of incorporating high-level mathematical modeling and reasoning, aligned with the PISA framework. Many of these programs rely on teacher leaders to help deploy the new material in schools. The teacher leaders are part of development teams, try out the new assignments in their classes and then coach many additional teachers to use them as well.
The teacher leaders work together in small groups, each within their independent program, typically in isolation from other groups. Therefore, we approached the University of Haifa to organize a conference for 120 teacher leaders, where they can deepen their familiarity with the different programs, share knowledge and forge connections. Participants will present their concepts and practices and discuss their dilemmas and ideas with one another. In addition, guest lecturers will present innovative research regarding the interactions between theoretical and applied mathematics.
All background materials and the content of the conference and workshops will be fully available to the professional community in an online version, free of charge.
